Shooting Darren Black

Darren Black is a masterful musician & teacher of music from the UK. He got in touch to ask if I could help him with artwork for his new record & promotional shots for his website and press. A dream gig for me, so we spent a great day in London exploring locations & got some great shots. I used my Canon 60d with mainly a 50mm f1.2 L lens.

He’s shot through with the poise & grace of his art; if you cut his flesh open, his music would drip out of his veins and pool at his feet. It’s with him every step of the way so it was easy to capture, you just point the lens at him, focus and boom. He gives you this. There are hundreds of great pictures from this shoot. I don’t want to share my favourites yet, because they’re his favourites too and I want the first time you see them to be on a poster or CD or his website, but here are a few teasers. Save his site in your music list & follow him on Twitter so you’ll know when his record is coming out. It’s going to be a good one.
