When a young filmmaker interviews an elderly widow about her haunted past, a cursed DV tape reveals that the dead aren’t just restless - they’re vengeful, and the camera is still rolling...
The mood moves from gentle warmth to simmering rage in the short five page script - a ghost story that doesn’t ask for justice - it demands payment.
TARTRAZINE is a short ghost film told in layers - part faux-documentary, part séance theatre, part feminist revenge myth. It follows Sorcha, a film student interviewing a grieving widow about her quiet ghost of a husband - until Sorcha herself vanishes. Years later, her cursed DV tape resurfaces during a séance performance, unleashing a monologue from beyond the grave. A slow-burn chamber piece with flashes of fiery horror, Tartrazine evokes A Ghost Story by way of Portrait of a Lady on Fire, channelling memory, grief, and generational rage into a single, scalding curse.
To be filmed in a real-life haunted house on the Isle of Bute, with a small cast & crew, TARTRAZINE is shooting soon and we hope to finish it in 2025.
